priorities for creating a better Nevada
Education
Ensure the safety of our schools. We do this by empowering educators with increased options for discipline, structure, and protection of the educational environment such as alternative schools which are increasingly regimented.
Provide a quality education for our children A quality education is one which increases a person's capacities and abilities to enjoy life to a greater degree and make contributions which do the same for others. This will include not only curriculum which increases job skills, but also that which cultivates talents and interests which enhance fulfillment in all aspects of life. Our state government will direct our public education system to these ends.
Enhance families' educational options such as home schooling, vouchers, and charter schools.
Reduce class sizes in our public schools without breaking the budget. This can be done with restructuring schools to eliminate things which do little or nothing to support classroom instruction such as setting ratio limits for teachers to administrators.
Make sure our children have real opportunities for higher education. Facilitate expansion of the community college system and the establishment of classroom connections in businesses and in all regions of the valley. Encourage programs (such as internet classes) which allow for flexibility for students who are unable to attend regular classes.

Crime
Reduce crime without saturating our streets with law enforcement. Support communities and law enforcement with high tech tools and support which deter crime and create safer public environments. An example of this is using surveillance technology to magnify police "presence". (Of course such technology would be strictly controlled to protect personal privacy and other civil rights.)
Diminish gang activity, drugs and violence among our youth by integrating them into our society through community programs. Youth crime can be fought by involving our young people as citizens in our community and making available to them opportunities for service, recreation, and other wholesome activities which cultivate a sense of ownership of and belonging to the community.

Taxes
Demand strict accountability for how our hard earned tax dollars are spent. I will require visibility to the people of budgets for all public agencies. This is important to expose such abuses as "pork barrel" projects, junkets, and just plain waste and inefficiency.
See that public funds are invested with an eye to profitable returns which actually reach the public, and not merely "spent". Government programs must be tracked and scrutinized to see that the public is getting the biggest bang for their buck. Programs which largely benefit special interests and which have little or no benefit to the people must be eliminated.

Economy and Infrastructure
Make sure good jobs are here for our children when they come of age. This can be done through a combination of development of our workforce (in particular our children), recruiting employers into Nevada, and maintaining a business friendly climate.
Recruit new jobs into Nevada which are environmentally clean and pay "family-provider" wages.
Address the valley's healthcare crisis of long lines at the emergency rooms, clinics cutting corners, and other healthcare provider needs. See that quality healthcare is readily available when needed. This can be done by offering greater incentives for quick care facilities to be available in each neighborhood. Patients should be able to grade their treatments.
Create a supportive environment for more "Mom and Pop Shops" in our community. Tax incentives and easing of administrative burdens for small business would be useful to this end. Our dollars should be kept local. By emphasizing local trade we stimulate our own valley economy instead of that of outsourced workers who may not even be Americans. Small businesses tend to diversify our economic base and make the community less vulnerable to the fluctuations we see in rampant "globalism". It is my conviction that government servants are
answerable to the people. We should be able to trust
that our future is in good hands. I'm grateful to
be in a position where I can follow through on my promises,
and prove to our district that our voices will be
heard in Nevada.
